Asking For A Sign.

I was asked the question.  “What is it like to receive a sign from God?  Like when you are in a real dilemma and beg God for a sign?”

I thought you would enjoy  reading the story I shared with them:

I grew up in a small community called Modjeska Canyon. I lived there until I was forty two.  Then quite by accident, I ended up living on a tiny island off the coast of Puerto Rico. I loved this place! After 8 months of searching for a house to rent, we moved into a small home on the main street. I couldn’t have found a better location.

I took a trip to Nashville and while I was there, I was offered to take over a log cabin coffee shop. (A dream of both my husband and myself) This coffee shop was only $600 a month, came with EVERYTHING, including fresh cream!  AND, it had an apartment upstairs included in the price!

I was in a total state of dilemma. I had just moved into this darling house, singing five nights a week at the local waterfront restaurants. Walking distance, to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.   And offered the opportunity of a lifetime in Nashville, someplace I wanted to live my whole life!!!

I didn’t really believe in praying at the time, and yet I begged God for some kind of a sign. Which place I should choose. Where I would I be the happiest?

Not too long after I asked, a knock came on the door. My friend Pat had dropped by to show me her Native American Flute.

When I looked at the flute, my jaw dropped!  The flute was made by my next door neighbor in Modjeska Cyn. California!  He had a brand that he burned into every flute he made…  And her flute wore that brand!      I said.  “This flute is made by Guillermo Martinez!”  She was thrilled that I recognized the maker.  “Yes!  I have always wanted to meet him!”   I said.  “Today’s the day, as I dialed his number by heart and told him of this “Miracle”

To me, this “coincidence” was a sign to stay on the island. It was indicating to me that this island was to be considered my home.

My old flute is on the left and Pat’s flute is on the right. (She later gave it to me as a birthday present.)

I was on a tiny island, with only 1,500 people on it, holding a flute, made by  one of my closest neighbors in my home town. – Over 4,000 miles away! Let me ask you. – What are the chances of this?
