Contrary thoughts

All of us are dealing as best we can with lack and limitation in one area or another in our lives. Money, health and vitality, romance or just a sense of well being. Because I am aware of all of the negative thoughts and beliefs that roam the halls of my own mind, I am choosing to start a line of questioning about how to dismiss them.

I wish to ask my guides a few questions about negative thoughts that limit us and hinder our success.
Where do they come from? And what do you suggest we do to stop thinking them?

This is a very good question!
We are assuming that you are talking about thoughts that are contrary to an outcome.

Everyone has thoughts that tell them things like. “I will never be able to get out from under this debt.” “No body wants me around.” or “I will never find anyone.” All of this type of thought is contrary to a desired outcome… Pay off the debt, have friends or fall in love.

Many of these thoughts are echos of words that you have heard spoken. Yet you wonder why they seemingly fly out of nowhere to slap you down. Usually because there is an aspect of yourself that wishes fully and completely not to have the very thing that is desired.

You have a left brain and a right brain that feeds information to the frontal lobe known as consciousness. Your mind is kind of like the old horse drawn wagons. You have two horses powering one carriage. As long as the horses both agree upon the direction, the carriage can cover ground and move easily toward it’s destination. However if one horse wants to go left while the other wishes to go right… You are in for a bumpy ride that will lead you someplace that is no where near the destination where you were intending.

Back to the wayward contrary thoughts. Take a look at your desired outcome. Let’s say you are wanting somebody to love and have negative thoughts that “Nobody will ever want me.” It makes you feel sad and by now we all know it is carrying you away from the destination of finding true love.

We already said that part of you doesn’t want to go that way. WHY NOT? Have you been hurt, did it not work out between your parents. What happened that one of your horses wants to drag you away from it? Take a hard look at the idea of being in love and see what really scares you about being in love.

I might get hurt
I won’t be able to have my own room again.
Someone else will play with my remote control and I will be forced to watch something stupid.

Figure out why only half of your mind wants you to be in love.

Once you face this reality, and what memory or learned association is frightening you. You can decide which direction your conscious thoughts will seek. If you have no more contrary thoughts… you will arrive where you wholeheartedly decide to go.

Today’s assignment. Keep an ear out for contrary thoughts and recognize why you yourself wishes to be contrary. Make peace with the past and wagons ho!
